AI Engineer vacancy for our Basel based client in the Banking sector.

Your tasks:

• Design and implement AI and software engineering architectures for Python-based applications across a range of business use cases.
• Develop, test and evaluate Large Language Model applications, including prompt engineering and performance assessment.
• Build APIs and interfaces to integrate AI models into existing systems and platforms.
• Prepare and process large unstructured datasets through data exploration, cleansing and preprocessing.
• Leverage Azure OpenAI services to develop, optimise and scale AI solutions, while monitoring and maintaining models in production.
• Work closely with financial and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

Your experience/knowledge:

• Around 5 years’ experience as a Software Engineer with a recent move into Machine Learning Engineering, AI Engineering, or a similar role focused on Python-based AI application development and deployment.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade applications, including CI/CD, monitoring and observability, performance analysis, troubleshooting and support.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based services, including frameworks such as LangChain and LlamaIndex, plus prompt engineering.
• Experience with agent-based frameworks and familiarity with vector databases such as ChromaDB or Weaviate.
• Strong knowledge of Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, Pydantic and requests; familiarity with Azure or AWS is an advantage.
• Language skills: English – fluent
