Biosafety Officer /HSE Systems Coordinator vacancy for our Stein based client in the Manufacturing sector.
The Biosafety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safe handling of biological agents and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) at the client's sites in accordance with Swiss legislation and international standards.
Your tasks:
- Develop, implement, and monitor biosafety concepts in accordance with Swiss legislation (ESV, SAMV, GTG)
- Ensure compliance with Biosafety Level 1–4 standards across laboratory and production areas
- Conduct risk assessments of biological agents and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), recommending appropriate containment and control measures
- Act as primary liaison with national and cantonal authorities, preparing and submitting notifications and permit applications
- Plan and deliver biosafety training programmes and perform biosafety inspections and audits
Your experience/knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of Swiss biosafety legislation and regulatory frameworks for biological agents and GMOs
- Experience in risk assessment of biological and GMO-related hazards
- Completed university degree (MSc/PhD) in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or comparable scientific field
- Proven experience in regulatory affairs and direct communication with enforcement authorities
- Language skills: Fluency in German and English
