Data Engineer – Hadoop, Hive, Python – this is a long term vacancy for our Basel based client in the Banking sector.

Your tasks:

• Design, build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines for ingestion, transformation and loading across a range of data sources.
• Develop and migrate data solutions from C# to Python, ensuring robust, scalable and maintainable implementations.
• Work with Spark, SQL and related technologies to support modern data lakehouse and analytics use cases.
• Collaborate with business analysts, technologists, data architects and stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Support data architecture, design decisions, proof-of-concepts and ongoing operational support, including shared on-call coverage.
• Apply data governance, security, retention and quality requirements throughout development and delivery.

Your experience/knowledge:

• Proven experience building data ingestion pipelines for data warehouse, data lake or lakehouse environments.
• Hands-on experience with open-source technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, HBase, Kafka, Impala or dbt, ideally in a Cloudera environment.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, design patterns and highly scalable application development.
• Advanced Python skills; experience in a banking or financial institution is an advantage.
• Language skills: English – mother tongue
