Laboratory Assistant vacancy for our Stein based client in the Manufacturing sector.

Your tasks:

• Learn, understand and follow all safety and operational procedures in the SCBI building and wider Stein site.
• Schedule tasks together with the Assurance and Innovation Team to ensure efficient and transparent operational workload
• Ensure good understanding of the task, ask for guidance when necessary, learn new tasks quickly and accurately record results.
• Carry out diverse tasks in the SCBI or in other labs on the Stein site such as:
  • Safe handling and accurate measuring of chemicals, biological inoculum, seeds, soil and other materials
  • Small scale treatment and testing of seed treatments
  • Preparing and maintaining experiments with seeds and growing seedlings, including preparing growing media, planting seeds and timely, accurate watering for the duration of the experiment
  • Take high quality photographs, including time-lapse sequences, of experiments
• Pro-actively maintain a high standard of tidiness and cleanliness in SCI laboratories including managing incoming mail and samples and outgoing waste

Your experience/knowledge:

• At minimum, Apprenticeship in a scientific laboratory field or equivalent vocational qualification from a European Institution.
• Must have practical training and work experience in a scientific laboratory and be able to show a track record of working safely and accurately
• Must be a competent user of Microsoft Office Applications and have a track record of quickly learning new IT applications
• Must be able to communicate in spoken and written German and English (B2 level or equivalent). Other languages are an advantage
• Must be a good teamworker and results orientated
• Experience of handling chemicals, biological materials and working with germinating seeds and plants is an advantage
