Animal Care Associate vacancy for a globally operating Basel based company in the pharmaceutical sector.

Your tasks:

• Independent cleaning and disinfection of facilities and cage materials.
• Independent care and management of laboratory animals.
• Supporting research groups in animal experiments (e.g., administering medications, selecting, marking, euthanizing animals, etc.).
• Compliance with hygiene regulations (hygiene concept).
• Acting as a point of contact/information for laboratory personnel (e.g., regarding the accommodation of rodents, use of cage changing stations, etc.).
• Works independently according to animal protection legislation (laws, regulations).
• Works independently according to Novartis SciOps/LAS quality guidelines (e.g., HSE, SOPs), hygiene regulations (hygiene concept), and instructed directives from supervisors and research groups.
• Prepares laboratory animals for upcoming experiments as per the instructions from laboratory staff, according to the desired location and time.
• Transfers incoming animals to the animal room, unpacks them according to instructions (animal protection law, maximum number of animals per cage), and places them in appropriate holding cages.
• Daily animal and cage checks, logging of room temperatures, humidity, general cleaning tasks, special occurrences, etc.
• Reports sick or injured rodents to the veterinary service by phone, email, or through the appropriate tool.
• Euthanizes laboratory animals as instructed by supervisors or researchers.
• Performs internal animal and material transport using the company vehicle (Category B).
• Availability for Saturday/Sunday and holiday shifts (365-day operation).
• Participates in LAS continuing education events and/or further develops skills at the workplace within the scope of the tasks.

Your experience/knowledge:

• One or more years of training as an animal caretaker or equivalent training.
• LTK-1 module is an advantage.
• German and English are advantageous.
• Experience with small animals (various species, multiple areas of breeding and husbandry of laboratory animals).
   

Your soft skills:

• Work with radioactive substances in the Radio Ligand Therapy (RLT) unit.
• Excellent communication skills, team-oriented, independent, and analytical way of working
